Updates and Changes to the Specialty Class Schedule:

Beaded Beads: Saturday, August 14, 10:30 AM. Ceil has added a few more beaded beads to her repertoire (a total of 3 different types of beaded bead are available for learning); and will be teaching 2 different types per student, time permitting. Ceil is easily able to adapt to different student's stitching skills and speeds, and everyone will get the one-on-one attention they need. So just to clarify - each student can pick 2 of the 3 beads, and you don't all have to pick the same 2.

Samples of all the different beaded bead types available to be taught in this class are on display at the shop. Students should be prepared by 10:30 on the morning of class to tell Ceil what their 1st and 2nd - (everyone may have different choices - Ceil is very flexible!) But the class starts at 10:30, so if you want to examine the different beads designs and start picking out your beads, either come in one day before the class to start making your choices, or get to the shop well before 10:30 that morning, so you can do your picking and choosing! Please don't expect the class or the teacher to wait for you once class begins!

Note: Any student(s) who fall behind on the 1st pattern and isn't ready to progress to the second beaded bead technique may not be able to learn 2 patterns during the class. Please understand that we are basing our time estimates and class project schedule on past class experience, but if someone needs a little extra attention to get going, they may only master one technique during the class.

Introduction to Art Clay Silver: Saturday, August 21, 10:30 AM (this will be the LAST opportunity to take Intro Art Clay Silver until next year - Angela will be building on these skills in some of her more advanced classes for the rest of the year). No kidding folks - last intro class this year. Angie has some terrific advanced classes to offer, and we are moving on!

SEPTEMBER:
Photopolymer Clay
: Saturday, September 11, 10:30 AM. One of Angela's Advanced Art Clay classes, this class will teach you how to make your own stamps. We don't have this project on the YaYa Beads page - Angie hasn't taught it in over 3 years, but everyone loved it the last time she offered it. We also don't have an example in the shop right now, but Angie promises me she will get me one ASAP. But basically, you learn how to design and make your own stamps that you can use on Art Clay projects or in Cold Connections - or I guess even for plain old stamping on paper!

Wire-Wrapped Beaded Bangle Bracelet ("Maggie's Bracelet"): Sunday, September 12, 1PM. This bracelet combines traditional wire-wrapping techniques with beads - and you can use a wide choice of bead sizes and shapes, so be prepared to arrive early for class, so that you can make your selection!

Just 2 of the many variations on Maggie's beaded bangle - one with 4mm copper round beads, one with hand-woven peyote beads.

Woven Wire Bangle Bracelet and Dinner Ring: Friday, Sept 17, 9AM
Kathy will be teaching 2 entirely different projects, both of which involve weaving wire.

This is NOT wire-wrapping - it is wire-weaving.

This class will run from 9AM to 6PM on Friday, September 17.

This class represents a substitute for the previously advertised SEE (Soldered/Epoxied/Embossed) Pendant and Earrings. A few technical difficulties arose with the execution of that project, but we hope to be able to offer it again soon.

Cold Connections: Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 18-19, 9 AM - 6 PM (2-day workshop)

Viking Knit: Monday, September 20, 10:30 AM - 5 PM - this is wire-weaving class, taught by Kathy Morris. There are many, many applications for this technique, but the class project will be a copper bracelet, and you will also learn to make you own starter, so that you can continue to make more Viking Knit once you leave class!

Wire-Wrapped Celtic Necklace AND Celtic Earrings: Sunday, September 26, 1PM

These are 2 different projects, and 2 different techniques - and, obviously, they don't match - but both are Celtic.

OK - that is it for formal class schedule updates at this time. Please call the shop to register, or if you have any questions!

On a related class note, many of you have been asking about beading classes, wrapped loop classes, beadweaving classes, and chainmaille classes. I had hoped to get restarted with these in August, but I still can't talk, so I certainly can't teach yet. I have seen the ENT, and have some nerve damage to my vocal chords, and still need to drastically limit my talking. But YaYa beads is just not able to resume beading, beadweaving, or chainmaille classes until the teacher can talk, so please bear with us. -- Hopefully we will be able to resume these classes by mid-to-late September. Thanks!

Now - I'd like to remind everyone that our "Just Bead It" Studio Project Days started Wednesday, August 4 - we'd love to have you join us!

And don't forget that YaYa Beads is on Facebook - we'd love to have you join us there - get all the very latest updates! Just go to our page, and click "Like"! It's easy!

Hope to see you soon!

Don't Miss Out!

Look at the gorgeous wire work in this necklace:

This is one of Ceil Thomas' intricate wire-coiled neckpieces, and Ceil will soon be teaching this technique as a 2-day seminar at YaYa Beads.

In order to enroll in this 2-day seminar, we are offering the following class as a mandatory pre-requisite:

Wire-Coiled Earrings: Saturday, August 8, 10:30 AM

This class will begin to teach you the techniques needed to make Ceil's beautifully detailed coiled wire centerpieces. There are still 3 openings available for this class.

Note: The wire-coiled earring class is considered an advanced wire-weaving class.

Samples of both these projects are on display at the shop. The fee for Ceil's beadwork classes is $30 plus supplies; $15 non-refundable deposit required for registration.

If you are interested, please give us a call, or come in and sign up!

YaYa News, 7/22/09

Just a few updates and additional information about the current class schedule:

This is a sample of the "Wire Coiled Earrings," which will be taught on August 8 @ 10:30 AM.

This is considered to be an advanced project/class, but if you are at all interested in taking our 2-day seminar, to be offered later this year, on making those intricate, gorgeous wire-coiled focal pieces of Ceil's, this class is a mandatory prerequisite - so check your calendars, and give us a call if you're interested!

The following are just a few of the pieces produced in previous Chunky Beaded Cluster classes:

It's easy to see that this class allows you to produce a necklace that is only limited by your imagination (and supply of beads).

The next Chunky Beaded Cluster class is scheduled for August 22 @ 10:30 AM, and there are only 2 openings left!

The Lacy Wire Cuff Bracelet class last Sunday was a huge success - everyone's bracelets looked different, and every

one had a great time.

YaYa Beads will now be offering this class on a one-on-one flexible scheduling basis, like we do with our beadweaving and basic beading classes, so give us a call if you're interested in learning this fun bracelet.

NOTE: Intro Art Clay Silver, on Saturday, August 15, is now completely full.

I will be happy to start a waiting list for anyone interested in having us schedule another Intro Art Clay class.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Note: The wire-coiled earring class is considered an advanced wire-weaving class.

  • Chunky Beaded Cluster: Saturday, August 22, 10:30 AM

Ceil is also taking appointments for students interested in learning pearl knotting. You can call the shop, or stop in for more information.

Art Clay Silver with Angela Foreman

  • Intro Art Clay Silver: Saturday, August 15, 10:30 AM

These intro classes are only taught 3 or 4 times a year, so if you've always wanted to try Art Clay Silver, this is a great opportunity.

As of today, there is one opening still available for this class: don't miss out!
